Our campaign.
Autistic Pride Day is held on 18 June. We are autistic people, and we run the campaign around it all year, in 22 countries.
This is
our campaign.
We did not start Autistic Pride Day. Since 2023 we have built the campaign around it, and the day belongs to the community.
One theme each year.
A home for the day, a toolkit, and a theme. The themes tell the story.
- 232023Everyday Autistic
- 242024Taking Off the Mask
- 252025Unapologetically Autistic
- 262026Autism is Trending. Now do something about it.
Just Gold, our autistic social enterprise, built it, and our founder and Just Gold paid for it. No grants, no outside funding.
How it grew
From one day to 22 countries.
More than 900 people have used the toolkit, and it has been a Melbourne Awards Access and Inclusion finalist three times. Think Autism, our conference program, began the same year.
What four years taught us.
One day is not enough
Changing a workplace or a school does not fit inside a single day.
Awareness is not follow through
Organisations need to know what to do, and someone has to check.
Autism is not a silo
Many of us are AuDHD, and other neurodivergent people felt left out.
Getting it right pays
Organisations will pay to get it right, and that keeps everything free for us.
Autistic led
Planned, written and run by autistic people.
Other people have described us and decided for us for long enough. The six actions came from what 85 community members and organisations told us.
One year. Four moves.
The campaign runs all year, and it starts with a card.
November to January
Ask
We fill in our cards and tell the places we work and learn what our brains need.
February to May
Commit
Organisations promise on the Register to act on our cards and on our six actions.
May to 18 June
Show
On 18 June we celebrate where we live, and organisations report what they did.
July to October
Report
We tell organisations whether we got what we asked for, and publish the result.
One number.
Requests met.
The share of what we asked for that was actually done. Nobody needs a diagnosis to take part, to learn or to be counted, and that rule has no exceptions.
Wear what we stand for.
Every dollar of profit goes to Aurum Foundation and keeps the toolkit free.
