Choose one process
Look at one hiring round, meeting, consultation or application process. Map what people have to do and remove steps that are not essential to the task.
Choose the action that fits what your manager or leadership team can decide. Send the briefing first, ask for a meeting and ask for a decision by a date.
Plan for the people taking part
Say what will happen and how long it will run. Explain the space, light and noise in advance. Offer ways to take part without speaking.
Let people leave and come back. Share written information before the meeting. Ask what helps rather than making assumptions about a diagnosis.
Make the commitment concrete
Write what you will do, name who is responsible and set a date. Put the commitment on the Register and report what you actually did.
If you run team learning, start with free Tier 1 of The Autistic Standard. Give people time and a choice of how to take part.
